Time Travel

Thanks
go out to Monk who agreed to Beta this for me. This was written for the “Backdoor” challenge. An idea by Monk
and Beach but if you want a humorous answer to what backdoor means I suggest talking to CeeLyn, aka Lenny Sphincter…… Bwhahahahahaha!
This is
only the second story I have written and I feel like a lamb being led to slaughter trying to compare my story to anything
that Monk, Beach, LZ or CeeLyn could write.

As Captain Janeway stepped onto the bridge from her Ready Room she swayed a little on her feet. She
really did need to stop indulging in so much coffee in the afternoon especially if she was going to skip lunch. Well she could
rectify that now, she thought, by heading to the mess hall for an early dinner. As she started to inform her second in command
that she was calling it a day she noticed that the entire bridge staff was staring at her.
“Report.”
No one said a
word. They were all looking at her and then looking at Chakotay and Tuvok, who had come down to command level to stand near
the commander.
“Is there
a problem, Chakotay? I was just going to head out for the evening, perhaps see what Neelix had in the mess hall for dinner.
But before I go I would like to know what our present location is and hear a system’s status report,” Janeway
said a little sharply.
There was a small
gasp at the front of the bridge in response to her words and then her second in command stood up from the captain’s
chair and looked quickly over to her security officer. A quick glance passed between the two men before Chakotay said, “Captain,
perhaps I could have a moment of your time to discuss an issue…… In the conference room if you don’t mind?”
After entering
the conference room Janeway took a seat in her usual chair and waited for Chakotay to come in. He was involved in a quiet
discussion with Lieutenant Commander Tuvok
at the doorway. She tried to hear what they were saying and the longer they talked the more apprehensive Kathryn
started to feel.
Once the conversation
was over Chakotay entered the room and sat down at the table.
“Chakotay,
what is all the secrecy about?”
“If you
don’t mind waiting just a moment longer, I think a few other people should be involved in this discussion as well.”
“Why do
I have a feeling I am not going to like this discussion?”
Chakotay gave
her a little smirk and she knew for sure she wasn’t going to like what they wanted to discuss. A few moments later,
Tuvok walked in followed by Harry, B’Elanna and the doctor.
“It’s
not a mutiny, is it?” Kathryn tried to joke.
“No Captain,
but we were wondering if you could tell us what’s the last thing you recall before you stepped out onto the bridge?”
Tuvok asked.
Captain
Janeway went through everything she could remember. Sitting at her desk finishing up her reports on
the recent system they had gone through. It wasn’t a particularly bad section, but they did encounter a few hostile
areas. There wasn’t anything they couldn’t handle or avoid without pulling them too far off course. She detailed
everything including the dizziness she felt when she entered the bridge. As she finished her story she noticed that the doctor
was completing his scan. The EMH quietly showed the results to Chakotay and then Tuvok.
Did they think
she was crazy, or something worse?
Chakotay finally
spoke. “Captain, we have a situation where the Temporal Prime Directive is in place. All that we can tell you is that
you are in the future. I brought Harry and B’Elanna in to try and figure out how you got to us. We’re going to have to keep
your interaction with the rest of the crew to a minimum until we know more. For
the time being I think we’ll set you up in the VIP quarters.”
“Why can’t
I stay in my own quarters?”
“The TPD
Captain.”
Then before any
of them could stop her she asked, “Computer, how many Captain Janeway’s are there on Voyager?”
“One.”
“You see;
I could stay in my own quarters. My future self is not here. Is there a future me?” She hesitated not wanting to ask
the next question “I mean I still exist right?”
“Yep, she’s
on an away mission.” Harry said only to shrink in his seat as Tuvok shot him a glare.
“Captain,
there could be items and other things in our captain’s quarters that are not in yours, things that we could not possibly
know about that should be removed.” Tuvok responded while thinking that one item in particular would be fairly obvious.
³
Once in the VIP quarters
Tuvok and Chakotay again reminded the captain that she would be locked out of the computer except for her basic necessities
and entertainment purposes. They would inform her as soon as Harry and B’Elanna discovered anything.
“Why isn’t
Seven working on this as well?”
“Seven
will be brought in the loop if it’s deemed necessary,” Chakotay responded.
“Okay,
keep me as updated as you can.” Janeway didn’t like giving up total control to anyone, but as difficult as it
was she realized she truly didn’t have a choice.
After her two
officers left Kathryn decided she had better eat something and then perhaps she would take a bath to try to sooth
her nerves a little. She absolutely hated not knowing where she was or what state her ship was in. Were they still in the
Delta Quadrant trying to make their way home? How many years had they been out here now? How many of the crew had made it
so far?
This was why
she hated time travel. Being who she was, a scientist and a captain, just made her a curious control freak. She would love
to know all the answers but that was the problem with temporal mechanics. You were never sure if one errant action could cause
a catastrophe somewhere in time. If her presence here could cause time to be off kilter, or would it set it back in order?
It was all one vicious causality loop. Luckily Chakotay revealed the single piece of information most important to her. Although
under the TPD, he really shouldn’t have acknowledged what other personnel were on the ship; really he shouldn’t
have answered any of her questions. And he should have realized that especially after Harry had done it as
well. Nevertheless, Seven of Nine was still on Voyager and that eased her mind.
Bringing a former
Borg drone on board and helping restore her humanity was probably one of the more adventurous things she had done in
the Delta Quadrant. It wasn’t an easy task, but Seven had been worth it. In the beginning it seemed that the captain
and her new crewmember were going to clash over everything. But gradually Seven started to acclimate to the Voyager crew.
Kathryn thought the actual turning point had been when Seven had gone back to the Borg so that the Queen would
spare Voyager. Though it had been a heroic thing to do Kathryn hadn’t been able to allow Seven to sacrifice herself. She was too important
to Voyager and, as Kathryn realized, to herself.
After that incident,
they began spending more time together and not just playing Velocity or visiting Da Vinci’s studio. Seven began
to express even more of an interest in their journey home. But it wasn’t a factual interest; Seven was interested in
the Kathryn’s experiences growing up and what her home and family were like. Kathryn
had even managed to convince Seven to accompany her to Sandrine’s to socialize with the rest of the crew. Although they
had only managed to win one dart tournament together before the crew figured out that pairing them together was quite unbeatable.
And that was what it really boiled down to. With Seven by her side, Kathryn could accomplish anything.
Coming out of
her musings Kathryn walked over to the replicator. “Computer, single serving Janeway number one.”
What appeared
was not the chicken and rice dish she expected, but instead an aromatic serving of pot roast and mashed potatoes. She thought
some things were obviously better in the future if she was finally able to perfect the pot roast. After tasting it, she knew she was a genius. She had finally pinpointed the right spices to make it taste
just like her mother’s.
³
In the astrometrics
lab Harry and B’Elanna were able to diagnose that the ship had been hit with a temporal wave. After searching
the area for the wave it was calculated that the ship would encounter the wave again in another ten hours. They suggested
that Voyager alter their course slightly in order to hit the anomaly again in the same spot. The hope was that with all things
being equal, the captain would return to her correct time if exposed to the same anomaly once again.
The new course
was laid in before Chakotay informed Kathryn that she would possibly only be with them another ten hours. He suggested she
try to get some rest, to make the time pass more quickly.
Janeway tried
to settle down with a padd to do some reading, but knew it was hopeless. She hated reading from a device. It hurt her eyes
and it ruined the ambiance of actually holding a book. There was nothing quite like the feel of paper or the dusty, smoky
smell of it. It was probably her traditionalist background coming back to bite her on the butt. She railed against it in her
youth and now as she grew older those traditional things served as comfort for her.
She required a book, and she knew exactly where she could find one.
Walking into
her counter part’s quarters she noticed very few changes from her own cabin. She was thankful that she wouldn’t
be invading this space more than necessary. She headed right over to her bookshelf and began looking for a title that would
keep her entertained for the next few hours. Having made the selection she turned to head back towards the exit when movement
from her bedroom captured her attention. She wasn’t sure if it were real or a mirage, but there stood her astrometrics
officer, fresh from the shower, clad only in a towel.
While she willed
her feet to move faster she could only manage a few steps before she was pinned in place with Seven’s laser gaze. Then
Seven immediately smiled which caused Kathryn’s heart to beat a little faster.
“You’re
home earlier than expected, Kathryn. Did the negotiations go well?” Seven asked walking out to meet her.
“Oh, you know all normal stuff. Nothing terribly exciting.”
Kathryn could hear the panic in her own voice and she hoped Seven would not pick up on it.
“I find
that hard to believe. You know trouble has a way of finding you. However, I am glad you have returned safely.” Seven
said as she drew Kathryn into an embrace.
Seven pulled
back briefly only to lean in and begin to gently kiss her. Kathryn was sure she would die a happy woman. Only recently had
she allowed her thoughts to entertain this possibility, but she dared not hope. Now the feel of Seven’s lips were causing
her to melt. She couldn’t remember when the last time being held felt so wonderful. She knew she could drown in Seven’s
essence.
“I’ve
missed holding you, Kathryn. You know I hate to sleep alone.”
“I’ve
missed you as well.” Kathryn didn’t even think twice before she responded. For the first time being in someone’s
embrace felt like coming home.
“You must
be hungry and tired. Why don’t you go shower and I will fix you something to eat.” Seven said as she pulled out
of their embrace.
Kathryn was quickly
brought back to reality. She was not supposed to be here. Although every instinct she possessed knew that she did indeed belong
in Seven’s arms, this was the exact reason they had created the Temporal
Prime Directive. She was sure that somewhere in the universe the Captain of time ship Relativity was rolling his eyes watching
the Janeway factor pop up again.
“I am really
not that hungry. I just wanted to change and then I thought I would head to the bridge and work on my mission report while
it’s still fresh in my mind.” Kathryn said as she headed for the ensuite. She was hoping this would be her opportunity
to extract herself.
When Kathryn
came back out to the living room Seven was sitting on the sofa waiting for her. Seven had removed her towel and was now wearing
a cerulean colored negligee. She looked stunning set against the backdrop of the stars whilst they traveled at warp.
“Come sit
down. I made a casserole for dinner and I heated a small portion for you.” Seven urged.
Kathryn quickly
acquiesced and sat down next to Seven. Her mind was working overtime trying to figure out her exit strategy. She wasn’t
going to be able to control herself much longer if she stayed. She picked up the plate and tasted the casserole.
“Hey, this
tastes great just like my grandmother’s chicken noodle casserole.”
Seven just smiled
and said, “I was hoping I could accurately recreate it. This was my third attempt.”
Then it dawned
on Kathryn. She wasn’t the genius after all. She hadn’t perfected the pot roast, Seven had. What more had this
woman brought to her life? Kathryn only hoped she would have a chance to find out.
Kathryn knew
she shouldn’t ask Seven questions about their life together, so she tried to gain that knowledge visually. Looking closely
at her surrounding she could see the subtle changes that co-habitation had imprinted on her quarters. But they were still
very similar to her own and she could not help but wonder if it was due to the newness of the relationship or their combined
minimalist taste. But there was no doubt in her mind that Seven of Nine, Tertiary adjunct to the Unimatrix 01 lived with Captain
Kathryn Janeway.
Kathryn was startled
out of her musings when Seven pulled her to her feet and began to lead Kathryn into their bedroom. She slowed her steps and
let Seven go ahead of her. As much as she knew she should sneak away, she knew that her heart would not let her leave.
Kathryn paused
at the entryway to the bedroom. Seven had her back still to her and was beginning to disrobe. Kathryn caught sight of two
creamy shoulders and a bare hint of one of her breasts. Her pulse had increased ten-fold and she had to stifle the gasp that
almost escaped her lips.
Seven turned
back to her, robe now completely off.
“Kathryn,
please come to bed. I’ve missed holding you in my arms.”
“Is that
all you missed?”
In for a penny
in for a pound Kathryn thought as she began to remove her uniform. It was a flurry of motion as her many layers of clothes
were quickly scattered across the floor. Standing now completely naked, she suddenly felt shy.
Seven must have
sensed this for she came over to envelope her in an embrace. Kathryn wasn’t quite prepared for the feeling of naked,
full body contact and her legs turned to jelly. But Seven caught her before she could collapse. And then she was being kissed.
It started out with little nibbles of her top and bottom lip, gentle, almost tentative. These led to tongue darting, delicious
open mouthed kisses. And when Seven pulled back and smiled at her, Kathryn did collapse.
But it was on
the bed as Seven had managed to maneuver the couple across the room. Seven lay down next to her and began a gentle exploration
of Kathryn’s body with her mouth and hands.
“I have
missed the touch of your skin on mine, Kathryn. The smell of your hair, the way your back arches when I kiss your breasts.”
Seven whispered.
“What else?”
She was trembling with desire now. She could feel the wetness between her own legs.
Seven moved one
leg over Kathryn’s as she continued to touch and kiss her. She could feel Seven’s coarse hairs as she raised her
thigh. She began an exploration of her own. She stroked across Seven’s back and hips. Seven leaned forward placing her
breasts within range. Kathryn pulled one nipple and then the other into her mouth sucking on them enthusiastically. Her hands
slipped down to Seven’s buttocks and she grabbed hold when Seven undulated against her thigh.
Seven tried to
regain some of her control and started on the list again.
“I missed
the way I make your body shudder when I kiss behind your ear. The way you groan when I touch your inner thigh.” Seven
demonstrated each technique, eliciting the desired response.
The sensations
were starting to overwhelm both of them now.
Seven began sliding
down Kathryn’s body, kissing her way past her breasts and abdomen.
“I missed
the way you taste.” Seven kissed her way along the tops of Kathryn’s thighs. She brushed her lips across the skin
on her inner thighs tasting some of the wetness that had gathered there.
“Most
of all I missed the way you scream my name when you come.”
Seven’s
mouth moved over Kathryn’s clitoris licking the bud gently before moving down to her opening. She inserted her tongue,
darting it in and out quickly. Kathryn began pant and issue a low keening sound as Seven alternated between the two areas.
“Oh God…please,
I can’t take much more.” Kathryn started to plead.
Seven brought
her fingers up to Kathryn’s opening and inserted two fingers, pumping them in and out. She brought her mouth back to
her clit and began sucking on it. She inserted a third finger and set up an even rhythm.
“Oh…Oh…Oh…
ANNIKA. ” Kathryn screamed.
Kathryn was shattered,
broken in a million pieces. Never had she felt so loved before.
Before she could
catch her breath, Seven straddled her thigh again. She pumped her hips once, twice, three times and then issued a loud groan.
She collapsed on Kathryn kissing her passionately. Pulling back from the kiss, Kathryn cupped Seven’s face in her hands.
“I love
you so much.”
“I love
you too, Kathryn.”
Seven rolled
over and snuggled up to Kathryn’s side. She was asleep in a matter of seconds, Kathryn following right after her.
Hours later Kathryn
woke in a panic. She wasn’t supposed to be here, she needed to get back to the VIP quarters. She leaned
over to give Seven a kiss farewell but realized she was alone.
“Lights
fifty percent.”
She got up and
looked in the ensuite and living room and Seven was not to be found. She headed back to the bedroom to get dressed and realized
the clothes that should have been scattered all over the floor were not there.
“Computer,
what is the current star date?”
“Star Date
53049.2.”
She was back
in her own time now. She walked around her quarters again and felt sad. It seemed a little sparse now, less homey. But maybe
she could rectify that.
“Computer,
what is the location of Seven of Nine?”
“Seven
of Nine is in Astrometrics.” The computer responded and then there was a beep from a pad on her desk.
She walked over
to the pad and activated it. She was looking at herself.
“Welcome
back. I guess we swapped places for a little while. Your ship is fine and you crew had no idea I was from the future. I figured
out that the ship would cross through the wave again. I had hoped that we would switch back to our correct time lines. I guess
I was right. I hope my future gave you some things to think about.” The message ended with a little wink from Kathryn.
